Ask a friend or professional to care for your pet during the days of your move. You can also hire an animal transport service that offers a door to door service that includes picking up your pet a few days prior to the move and delivering it to your new home on a date determined by you.
If you are flying to another location make sure to book a direct flight in advance and contact the airline as to what their requirements are for traveling with pets. Also inquire about additional fees for bringing pets on board.
